Tour of Amber Fort and Jaipur city (Pink City)
Amber town (11kms from Jaipur) is the ancient capital of rulers of Jaipur. It is not only a fort, but a town with many attractions created by different rulers of the dynasty from 11 century onwards. The main fort is also known as Amber Fort used to be the capital of the Kachhwaha clan, till Jaipur was made the official capital in 1727. The Amber Fort looks due to its light yellow color and its location on the banks of Maotha Lake.
The crystal mirror image of the Fort, on the still waters of the lake, seems to be a beautiful illusion. Amber Fort’s construction started in 1592, by the Hindu king Raja Man Singh I and subsequent kings added different parts to the fort. The granite road climbs steeply to the gateway of Amber and on either side of the road are beautiful places, mansions, temples and gardens with geometrical designs. Apart from the Palace, the old town of Amber has many beautiful Temple and a huge Step-well. One must visit the ancient Jagat Shiromani Temple in the old time, which is known for its true Hindu architecture and spiritual atmosphere. You can walk up to the Amber Palace to cover the whole Amber town and Fort.

Major attraction inside the palace is the Sheesh-Mahal (Palace of mirrors) on account of its walls and ceilings which glitter with mirror and spangled work. It was built by Mirza Raja Jai Singh. After visiting the Amber fort you can continue to explore pink city of Jaipur and can visit other important land marks of Jaipur, which are Hawa-Mahal, City Palace Museum and Astronomical Observatory.
